According to Wikipedia, lisianthus is a warm-region flower and it's considered a high-end cut flower. It's relatively finnicky to grow and lisianthus blooms grow in groups of 1-2 per stem. Unlike other flowers we've talked about, they have a very small genus of two or three species, so they're considered less "hearty" and have less diversification than other cut flowers.

What do you need to know about lisianthus in a bouquet?

Growing season

Lisianthus blooms in early summer and can continue to bloom through late summer. Ask your florist if and when it's available in your region, though! Lisianthus is typically a grassland flower, so it might be especially hard to get depending on where you're celebrating your special day.

Color variety

According to Wikipedia, lisianthus can come in a wide variety of colors, such as the following:

  • Pink

  • Purple

  • White

  • Blue

  • Red

  • Yellow

  • Bicolored

Bloom size

They're approximately 2 inches across. This makes them similar to roses in terms of how they take up space in a bouquet. Take a look at our Instagram and Pinterest accounts for more examples to help you visualize your bouquet!
